President's Message:

Dear Friends in Quilting,

It’s great to be writing to you again. I am ready for some warmer weather! I hope you have all had some time to sew over the cold winter months. I had a hard time getting to the sewing room over the winter. I did manage to make two wall quilts since our last meeting, and I am currently working on my grandson’s graduation quilt. May is quickly approaching! This accomplished (compared to my fabric stash) it looks like I should go on a fabric diet!

The KQO board has been working on plans for the Spring Retreat. Our meeting will be held in McPherson at McPherson College, 1600 East Euclid. This is a lovely campus and everything is close by. It’s dorm living for the weekend, so come prepared. We have a list of motels in this issue if you prefer.

We have a great line up of teachers for this meeting. Our two national teachers are Jo Morton of Nebraska City, Nebraska and Kathy Kansier of Ozark, Missouri. Each will present two classes and lectures during the weekend. Please read the biographies and class descriptions inside this issue to learn more about them.

Our program chairman Judy O’Brate also lined up some fantastic regional teachers. You can choose classes from Delores Rieck, Scrap Assassin Returns; Gwen Rankin, Machine Appliqué; Dawn Habiger, Hankie Girls; Jeanne Poore, New Horizons; Jean Hamilton, Hand Embroidery; and Donna Thomas, Stars in Heaven, a star block pieced by hand or machine.

Now sit back and take some time to read through this issue to get all the details. Then call your friends and make plans to attend. If you plan to room together, mail in your registration forms together. Be sure you mail your registration and fees by the deadline on the registration form. I invite you all to McPherson for an enjoyable weekend. Remember - you can start out early and shop all the quilt shops along the way, and enjoy shopping The Button Hole once you arrive.

Until next time, it’s back to the sewing room!

Peggy White, KQO President
